Fior D’Arancio DOCG

In 2011, a very sweet product, very original and exclusive of the Euganean Hills, received the DOCG name. A well-deserved recognition for the absolutely unique characteristics of the Fior d’Arancio wine.

The microclimate and the lands rich in marne Euganean and red scales make the territory of the Euganean Hills the ideal production place for the cultivation of this vine that in 1994 was identified within the great Moscati family as “Yellow Muscat” and registered in the lists of Italian DOCs and placed under the protection of the Consorzio Vini Colli Euganei.

The origin of the term “muscat” seems to derive from muscus, which in the late Latin language means “fragrant”, while the origin of the vine is traced back to Syria. Its cluster is medium-sized, with spheroidal berries with a thick, thick and pruinose skin; the pulp is slightly crisp with a pleasant and sweet taste. It is a rather vigorous vine and expresses a good and constant production, it prefers the hilly lands, calcareous of medium mixture rich in skeleton. In the aromatic framework of the Fior d’Arancio wine there are qualitatively more or less the same terpenic compounds (mixtures of substances that give flowers or plants a characteristic smell or aroma) present in the grapes classified as “aromatic”, but in this vine there are several quantitative relationships (3, 5 times higher). These substances are responsible for those particular taste-olfactory sensations called “primary aroma”. In fact, in its vinification no special techniques are required to increase the aromatic content of the must, because in the Euganean environment these grapes present themselves in very high terpenic compounds. The denomination of DOCG is of extraordinary importance, because for the first time an Euganean wine has entered the narrow circle of the most noble Italian wines, recognizing the particular production environment and the originality of the product. Cultivation is allowed only within certain municipalities and also the vinification operations must be carried out within the limits given by the specification . In recent years it has been seen growing in the Euganean producers the awareness of having in their hands a truly unique product, which is offered in a wide range of possible combinations and combinations.
